A month into my “seeds in our biodegradable packaging” experiment, I am delighted to say that I’ve created edible life. It actually works! 3 weeks in, and here is the evidence. I’m mildly shocked that anything has grown at all and also surprised at just how well our Biodegradable Coffee Cups and Gourmet Food Trays have done. Neither show any signs of breaking down too much (yet) although I’ve only just remembered to pierce the bottoms of everything to allow for water drainage, so this may well change. (Right now, I’m walking around the place with a smug grin on my face)

Week 4, and I’m over the moon with progress. The tomatoes are more than happy in their homes – I gave one to my friend, as she’s up for random gifts like that. The lettuce have bolted, and at this point, I’ve learned that it helps to read the instructions, and not act so smug so early. The bottoms of the food trays have started to show signs of breaking down (much like I did when I thinned out the lettuce and knew I was going to lose them) so everything is off to a new home with more space. Hopefully they will recover from their cramped early start in life – the weakest went in a chicken sandwich – some would call them Micro Greens at this stage – I just called them tasty. More updates to follow soon; it’s great to see versatile packaging that will withstand some abuse before it starts to break down. Kate 🙂
