A long popular segment of our food packaging product range is the traditional ready meal market and the CPET Dual Ovenable Trays which can withstand high and low temperatures in freezers, ovens and microwaves and still retain their shape and keep the food in tip top condition. These are great for food but need lidding film to seal and the expense of a film lidding machine to go with it.
Many of our customers are micro producers of high quality niche food products, and the investment in the CPET packaging, lidding sealer and film can sometimes be too much to initially justify. We are delighted therefore to be supplying an excellent new product by Silver Plastics in Germany and their registered airPET® ‘touch to go’ ready meal food packaging which in addition to normal lidding film also has a clear PET lid, lowering the cost of entry for new producers into the pre-prepared food market. Please note however that the lids are not heat resistant and are just for storage and transportation purposes.
The traditional recyclable PET plastic has been manufactured to be an air foamed PET (a bit like EPS Polystyrene cups but much more eco friendly) which means that it is able to be taken straight from an oven without gloves or burning fingers. Other features and benefits of the packaging includes:
- Environmentally friendly – the foam is up to 95% air meaning 30% less raw material is used and waste disposal is also less. The PET is also 100% recyclable
- Works with existing sealing machine so no new investment required
- Cold resistance to -20°C
- Heat resistant up to 200°C
- Available to buy in a wide range of container options
